Reporting hate crime and cyber crime

Victims and witnesses of hate crime are urged to report it to the police on 101, or dial 999 in an emergency.

Hate crime can be reported anonymously and confidentially to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

If you are not comfortable in approaching the police, there are 11 reporting centres where you can report hate crime to specially trained staff in person or over the phone.

Victims First

Hate crime is motivated by prejudice based on a persons characteristics, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or religion. Typical incidents include physical or verbal abuse, offensive literature, graffiti and criminal damage. It can have a major impact on the life of the victim and the wider community, which is why it’s important to report it. Support for victims is available from Victims First, who can be contacted on 0300 1234 148.
