Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 places an obligation on the council to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme. We use the Model Publication Scheme created by the Information Commissioner’s Office, which represents a commitment by us to make information available to the public.

The Publication Scheme describes seven classes of information that we should publish, and these are as set out in the headings below. A lot of what we need to publish is already within our web pages so we provide links to where you can find the information described where it is held by the council.

Who we are and what we do

The council’s organisational information, locations and contacts, constitutional and legal governance.

Who we are and our organisational structure can be found in our about us page and our contact details are in the contact us page.

Our constitution sets out how we operate and more about our governance can be found in our pages about your councillors and council and committee meetings.

What we spend and how we spend it

The council’s financial information relating to projected and annual income and expenditure, tendering, procurement and contracts.

You can find information about our budgets, annual statement of accounts and treasury management using links in our finances page.

Details of our expenditure is published along with a summary of how we spend your money in our where your money goes page.

Information about the tendering process, procurement and our current contracts is available within our selling to the council page and our contracts register can be found on the current contracts page.

What our priorities are and how we are doing

The council’s strategy and performance information, plans, assessments, inspections and reviews.

Our policies and procedures

The council’s written protocols for delivering our functions and responsibilities.

How the council operates is set out within our constitution. Policies and procedures can be found within our individual services by searching our website or selecting from our list of core services.

Lists and registers

The following have links to the information the council holds in registers required by law and other lists and registers relating to our functions.

Find out about the electoral register our councillors and town and parish councillors. Councillor declarations of interest are recorded against the individual councillor for both the district and town or parish councillors. Please use links above to view the councillors. Information about the wards within our district is available in our list of representatives by ward.

Council owned land and property is recorded on our property and council land page.

Assets of Community Value are recorded under those listed and non-listed on our assets of community value page.

We publish our Register of Brownfield Sites, Custom and Self-build Register, Section 106 Contributions Register, Five Year Land Supply and you can view and comment on Planning Applications in our online register.

Neighbourhood planning information is provided in our Neighbourhood Plans page.

Our housing page offers advice on how to join our Housing Register.

You can find out how to register a food business in our Food Business Registration page.

The services we offer

Information about the services the council provides, including advice and guidance, booklets and leaflets, transactions and media releases, a description of the services offered. Information can be found within our individual services by searching our website or selecting from our list of core services.

If you cannot find the information you want in our Publication Scheme or on our website, for example in our transparency code information, please contact us for details of how you can obtain the information. Alternatively, you can submit a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or the Environmental Information Regulations 2004

Open Government Licence – use and re-use of information

The information available under the Transparency Code and the Publication Scheme is licensed under the Open Government Licence (OGL) and you can use and re-use the information that is available under this licence freely and flexibly, with only a few conditions as set out in the OGL licence.  When you use this information under the OGL, you must use the following attribution statement to acknowledge the source of the information and, where possible include a link to the licence and OGL symbol:
